1. General information

This is the kanu marathon race for challenging amateurs. Organized by Campo and partners within a program of "Jomas street festival" held annually by Jurmala municipality.

 

2. Time and place of the race

 

Start: on 05th of July, 2009. at 11:00. Bulduri beach (in windy conditions for the case of rough sea the start place will be relocated to Livu akvaparks in Lielupe river. The sea leg of the route will be cancelled then).

 

Finish: Livu Akvaparks. 50km for kayaks, 36km for canoes and Open.

 

Checkpoints  (sea kayaks and tandem kayaks):

1) Majori, 7.5km

2) "Livu akvaparks" (25.km), finish in "Sea wolf" class.

3) Dubulti 31.km,

4) Finish, Livu akvaparks, 50.km.

3. Participants

The competition is held in following classes:

  • Sea kayaks
  • Tandem kayaks
  • Tandem canoes
  • Open (SOT, oar-dinghies etc.)
  • Project. Sport class - flat-water racing boats.
  • Sea wolf (hardcore veteran class, 25km, sea kayaks).

Persons under the age of 18 may participate if accompanied by parent or authorized person.

 

4. Prizes

The prize basket of 500 LVL is provided by event sponsors.

 

5. Gear

This is the amateur race. Only industry standard sea kayaks and canoes, please. No marathon racing boats are allowed.

Canoe paddles for canoes. No oars (except "open" class, no sails).

Every boat should be equipped with bulkheads or floatation bags.
Mandatory gear:

 mobile phone in dry shell/bag.
* a spraydeck for all decked boats
* bilge pump or alike

 

6. Assistance

Assistance from aside is forbidden. No help on portages (if any), negative to any kind of supply (water, food etc)  - everything you might need should be carried with you.

7. Emergency assistance and safety provision

A motorized rescue team will be provided in route.

In rough sea conditions, the race distance will be modified.

Participants should, at their best, to help to their stranded or tipped competitors in the event the rescue team isn't close or immediate assistance is needed.

8. Participation fee and applications

No participation fees. It's free.

To participate, one shall fill in the application form (on the right).
